Went to a wedding this week-end in North Carolina. It was fine except for one thing: allergies. They descended on me like a ton of bricks and by yesterday, I was bed-ridden (thankfully, I made it back home before it got that bad). All plans to be active in any way shape or form for today are largely cancelled as well.

Anyone who thinks allergies can't be that much of a hassle simply doesn't have them.

This is absolute proof, if you needed it, that anything, I mean anything can be found, obtained, or at least read about, on the Internet.

Please, post no "middle-aged geek" comments. It was a strange and bizarre tale indeed that lead me to that page. >)

*sigh*... sometimes your best just isn't good enough. This says it all:

Hello former bosses, coworkers, et alia,

Yes, I am terrible about keeping in touch. Some of you however have the low-down on things with me these days and others don't, so I'll give the brief version and if you would like further details of my existence since last we saw one another, just ask.

I moved back to Rochester, NY in September 2005 and began taking classes at my old alma mater in hopes of doing well enough to have a fighting chance at entry to a US medical school. After four classes (calc and chemistry, 2 classes each), I attained a laudable but alas not-good-enough "B" average among the four. While these are good grades in general for the human race, they fall way short of what it takes to be an effective candidate for medical school (the low-down in that particular thing can be found here: http://www.studentdoctor.net/downloads/medshort.pdf). I am still interested in getting into healthcare but have to figure out in just what capacity it can work for me. I am considering becoming a Physican Assistant (sort of like a dr. only without the same insurance, hours, or capacity to get the best tables at restaurants), or perhaps a nurse prac (though that takes longer to become than a P.A.-- six years!). I suppose I could become a hospital janitor too but that doesn't pay enough to keep my cats in kibble in litter. ;) The good news is, there is a good P.A. program up here in Rochester. The bad news is, they don't take applications until December and they wouldn't take on new students in any case until Fall of 2007-- this is assuming I would go with that option in any case.

In the mean time, yes, I have to give up being a Gentleman Scholar (read: layabout who likes to read from time to time) and and go back to being a Slave of the Big Evil Corporate World. In that light, I put my resume out there in cyberspace just last night and in a sign that the upstate NY job market for IT workers isn't all that bad, already have a call from a recruiter regarding a job. She asked for references and you folks are the lucky people who have gotten listed. So if you start getting calls from her or someone else about yours truly, feel free to spill the beans. But please, do be gentle. :)

Well, I hope all of you are doing well. Let me know
how you all are doing, OK? Some of you, I haven't
heard from in too-long a time.

Hugs and kisses,

Matt

Who says medical work wears at the sense of humor? Read this and laugh!

Good news! That patient I thought who had passed away-- he hadn't! He had just been taken away for further treatment.

That'll teach me to jump to conclusions!

Yes, this could be an Onion article, but it isn't. Try not to laugh too hard.

I just took my calc II final. I am barely able to walk at this point.

Wow, ain't this the truth!

Heeyyyy... chew!!! My allergies are KILLING me! If I hadn't had to stay home from school as it were to deal with the fridge repairman (rat-stinkin' freezer fan went, thereby turning the refrigerator part of my fridge into something a little less than "cold enough"), I probably would have anyway.

I have come to the conclusion after decades now of observation that the essence of civilization is simply this: food and bathrooms. As long as you have those, there's a lot less trouble waiting to happen.
